Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup whipped cream

 

  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare two cake pans.
  • Cream butter and sugar, then mix in eggs and vanilla.
  • Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
  • Divide batter and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Prepare custard by cooking milk, egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until thick.
  • Cool custard completely.
  • Layer cake with custard and sliced strawberries.
  • Top with second cake layer and whipped cream.

 

  • Chill for 2 hours before serving.
